MORE than 1,000 shareholders, employees, stockists and guests gathered in Petaling Jaya to toast the success of Hai-O Enterprise.

The occasion was the company’s 40th anniversary dinner.

Hai-O Enterprise, which sells Chinese herbs and healthcare products, recorded nearly RM40mil net profit in 2014.

Its managing director Tan Kai Hee said the company had paid out RM205mil in dividend since 1997, an average of 52% yearly.

He also announced that workers with more than a year of service would get a special reward of RM1,000 and those earning RM3,000 and below would receive a 10% pay hike.

Guests at the dinner, themed “Hai-O’s Marvellous 40,” included Chinese Embassy counsellor Ma Jia, Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (Zhong Zong) president Datuk Lim Kok Cheong, Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce life honorary president Datuk Yong Ah Pwi and president Datuk Bong Hon Liong, as well as Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia life honorary presidents Tan Sri Lim Gait Tong and Tan Sri Ng Teck Fong.

Lined up for the evening was a series of performances such as an erhu repertoire by popular Chinese musician Li Jun, dances and singing.

Hai-O Enterprise also donated RM50,000 each to eight Chinese independent schools and RM100,000 to New Era College.
