"I can assure you we will re-examine our policies in light of the general election and make the necessary changes," he said at the launch of the Malaysia-China Muhibah night at the Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre here yesterday.
Present were Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Liu Jian, MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
The event was to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations as well as the Chinese New Year.
He also called on everyone to find new solutions to old problems.
"Let us develop not only on our economic and political ties, but our social and cultural relationships between various communities. Let us feel we are truly Malaysians."
He reiterated that the BN government would look after the Chinese community in Perak.
He said it was not the question of a majority or a minority government, but a government for all Malaysians.
"As much as my late father (Tun Abdul Razak Hussein) said that we could trust the Chinese in China when he established diplomatic ties with China in 1974, I say we can trust and have confidence in the Chinese community in Malaysia."
Hai-O Marketing and Malaysia-China Friendship Association also contributed RM113,000 and RM10,000 to the NSTP Gaza fund at the function.
